JOB SUMMARY Works under general supervision to provide routine technical assistance in performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of fundamental techniques and practices related to particular field of science. The candidate should be comfortable working with mice and will help with maintaining our mouse colonies, including weaning and breeding. Molecular biology background is essential, with solid experience in cloning, qPCR, and Western blotting. Additional skills, such as flow cytometry or imaging, will be viewed favorably. An immunology background is not required, though it would be an advantage.

Requirements

  • Completion of two (2) years of college or specialized training in histology, medical technology or relevant field or
  • High School Diploma including courses in basic sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology, etc. or GED Equivalent
  • 1 year of experience as Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with Completion of two (2) years of college or
  • 3 years of laboratory experience including two years as Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Comfortable working with mice and will help with maintaining our mouse colonies, including weaning and breeding.
  • Molecular biology background is essential, with solid experience in cloning, qPCR, and Western blotting.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Assists in conducting experiments and working on research problems in such fields as physiology, bacteriology, tissue culture, chemistry, and other related fields by performing basic, routine, and least complex procedures as prescribed by supervisor.
  • Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
  • Records resulting data in accordance with established methods. Confers with supervisor concerning results obtained, and modifies procedures in accordance with instruction of supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
