About The Position

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist IV (Genomics) for the Office of Research within New Jersey Medical School. The primary purpose of this RTS IV position is to perform high throughput DNA and RNA sequencing and support the operations of the MRF lab in the NJMS Genomics Center. New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences ( RBHS ) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University–New Brunswick and collaborating university wide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and five centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research. Responsibilities

  • Perform various protocols, including but not limited to, RNA and DNA extraction (possibly working with potentially infectious agents and bloodborne pathogens), sequencing and microarray protocols.
  • Assist with day to day operations of the Genomics Center as necessary.
  • Assist with laboratory data management.
  • Assist with maintenance of instruments.
  • Perform general laboratory maintenance and support.
  • Maintain laboratory safety standards.
