The Translational Virology Unit of the Emory Center for AIDS Research within the Emory National Primate Research Center at Emory University is currently seeking a Research Specialist to join our service core. The TVU is a service unit of the Virology and Molecular Biomarkers Core, which supports virology studies at all points along the spectrum of HIV/AIDS and SIV research for human and non-human primates. This Research Specialist will perform molecular biology and cell culture-based assays to quantify SIV/SHIV viral loads, cell-associated HIV/SIV/SHIV DNA or RNA, single molecular detection of SIV or HIV proteins, and other HIV reservoir assays. The position also requires the preparation of data reports and direct communication with clients, with a rapid turnaround time. This position will report directly to Dr. Kulpa. The ideal candidate should be highly self-motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, have a positive attitude, and have a passion for HIV research. The Research Specialist will be a team player who is willing to learn on the job and support the research of lab and center members. The Research Specialist will work to ensure the highest quality of laboratory research support, and has good communication skills with co-workers, the management team, PI’s, research staff, students, and other support services.
