About The Position

The Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics seeks applicants for a Research Specialist I or Research Specialist II position to perform cutting-edge research across laboratories at the Institute (Professors Claire Bedbrook and Ravi Nath ). We seek a highly motivated and well-organized individual to contribute to understanding the process of aging and discovering ways to promote longevity and resilience to age-related disease. The Research Specialist will work under direct guidance of the Principal Investigators. The Research Specialist will perform basic functions and activities in defined research projects and independently conduct and analyze experiments relevant to aging and neurodegenerative diseases. The position requires diverse experimental approaches including the generation of genetically modified vertebrate animals (e.g., CRISPR editing; design, embryo injections, screening), complex molecular biology (e.g., cloning, immunostaining, qPCR, western blots), microscopy, as well as animal husbandry (e.g., African killifish breeding, strain maintenance, genotyping). The candidate will be expected to analyze data. Additional day-to-day lab functions include ordering laboratory supplies and maintaining lab stocks. On the job training in specific techniques will be provided, but prior experience with related techniques is not required. Applicant should be organized, detail-oriented, intellectually motivated and have excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate is one who seeks professional development and is therefore interested in reading the current scientific literature, thinking critically about experimental design, and data analysis. The role has great potential for the advancement of skills. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience. Salary will include the full benefits package. This is a full-time position. This will be a one-year term position, with the possibility of renewal contingent upon continued funding and satisfactory performance. Review of applications will begin immediately. The position will start July 1, 2026.
