About The Position

The Research Assistant will support the PI and lab, performing skills including photolithography, LC-MS, MALDI imaging, NMR, FTIR, polymer synthesis. Additional responsibilities include obtaining patient tissues, performing basic lab skills including DNA and RNA extraction, cell isolation, cell culture, RT-PCR, Western analysis, immunostaining and histology and willingness to work with live animals. The ideal candidate should have strong background in chemistry, understanding and application of bioengineering, with interest in dermatology and skin biology. This person will also be involved in lab maintenance, including ordering lab supplies, ordering equipment, organizing lab spaces, and keeping track of freezer and liquid nitrogen storage inventories. Strong analytical, organizational and writing skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and ability to quickly learn other software programs is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • The research specialist will support the PI and lab with research activities
  • assist with various projects involving lab animal maintenance and assays, bioengineering, cell culture and molecular biology skills.
  • The research specialist will support the PI and lab with daily lab functions including lab organization, ordering supplies, record keeping, cleaning and new student training.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
