Leidos Health & Services Sector currently has an opening for a Research Scientist III supporting the Combat Casualty Care & Operational Medicine Division at the Naval Medical Research Unit San Antonio (NAMRU-SA) in San Antonio TX. NAMRU-SA serves as one of the leading research and development laboratories for the U.S. Navy and conducts gap driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research to improve survival, operational readiness, and safety of Department of Defense (DoD) personnel engaged in routine and expeditionary operations. The Combat Casualty Care & Operational Medicine Division supports the research performed by Expeditionary and Trauma Medicine, Cellular and Immune Based Adjuncts, and Biomedical Systems Engineering Departments. Primary Responsibilities Lead advanced scientific research design and oversee innovative research projects addressing various aspects of military medicine, including, but not limited to: stem cell biology, pharmacology, drug delivery systems, and immunology, with focus on developing translational solutions and high-impact scientific advances. In collaboration with the Lead Principal Investigator, create, submit, and maintain IACUC- approved animal research protocols. In collaboration with the Lead Principal Investigator, design competitive, well-structured research proposals to secure funding to support ongoing and future research initiatives. Produce impactful peer-reviewed publications by leading manuscript preparation and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to disseminate research findings in top-tier journals. Serve as a scientific resource and collaborator for cross-functional teams, contributing expertise to join research efforts, supporting junior scientists, and fostering a collaborative research environment. Provides supervision and oversight of junior scientist contract personnel on research projects; guides the development of protocol-driven research proposals, animal use protocols, Government-approved SOPs, and technical, final, and peer-reviewed reports; manages and evaluates research data sets; develops presentation materials; and supports the presentation of findings at technical and professional meetings.
