About The Position

A growing research, design, and manufacturing company, located in the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia close to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, seeks a full-time team member to serve as a Research Scientist/Engineer within its Research & Development (R&D) group. The company is looking for talented and highly skilled team members who are ambitious self-starters with high energy. This is a big opportunity for the right person. The R&D group functions as a business incubator wherein the technologies developed eventually end up as a stand-alone business. Requirements

  • B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in an engineering or science field with 5+ years of relevant experience (i.e., manufacturing, mechanical and/or other product engineering, product research and development, design engineering)
  • The ability to be “hands-on”, along with creative problem-solving skills and the ability to implement solutions, are a must
  • The ideal candidate must work well in a team environment, collaborating with research engineers and technicians
  • Must be well organized and be able to communicate extremely well (verbally and written)
  • Must be able to accurately manage projects to meet project deadlines
  • Must have a positive and team-oriented attitude
  • Aside from previous experience, ideal candidates for this position must be able to effectively problem solve, display a strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and be able to work independently with general oversight.

Nice To Haves

  • An MBA degree or equivalent business knowledge/experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Write proposals to secure new government research funding related to current or future technology areas
  • Conduct and coordinate scientific and/or product research and development
  • Management of all program and project components
  • Coordinate and interact with vendors, sub-contractors, and machine shops as needed
  • Assist with business analyses for new projects/products and new market opportunities
  • Participate in marketing activities and product sales processes
