The main research interest at CPG is to use a functional genomics approach for dissecting the molecular and cellular basis of neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. The Center performs multi-omics studies of these disorders. The Research Scientist is expected to serve as a Co-Investigator to lead/direct the genomics and imaging data analyses for existing federally funded projects while developing one’s own externally-funded projects as a Principal Investigator/Program Director. No initial independent funding is required, but a successful candidate is expected to support a portion of their effort through external grants or contracts through the role of Co-Investigator, and to submit grant applications and proposals to internal and external sponsors to obtain their own independent project funding within 3-5 years of starting in the position. While candidates with bioinformatics or genomics background and skills are preferred, an ideal candidate is expected to have the motivation and potential to develop independent externally-funded research on neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.
