About The Position

This position will work as part of a team to provide hands-on experience in research laboratory settings. The incumbent will perform laboratory tasks in a research setting related to molecular biology, cell biology and animal work, including taking care of animals in the lab, which are mostly mice. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience in laboratory science or healthcare delivery.
  • OR, any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated track record for scientific writing and presentation.
  • Proficiency in molecular methods such as nucleic acid isolation from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues and gene expression profiling.
  • Demonstrated experience working with mice.
  • Familiarity with histology techniques.
  • Familiarity with Biohazard, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), and lab management skills.
  • Familiarity with molecular methods such as nucleic acid isolation from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues and gene expression profiling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Database management skills

Nice To Haves

  • 4 four years of relevant experience, i.e. experience in laboratory science.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and coordinate molecular and cellular research activities and animal studies.
  • Assist with the ACUC protocols for mice.
  • Works with supervisor and other laboratory staff to design, develop, and adapt technical procedures, equipment, and ordering for the lab.
  • Maintains organized laboratory records.
  • Perform pathology/histology techniques such as embedding, sectioning, and immunohistochemistry.
  • will also be involved in tissue culture studies.
  • Performs and records routine equipment maintenance and calibration for sophisticated scientific equipment.
  • Participate in lab meetings and other scientific discussions to assist with judgment of data findings and research methods while participating in discussions regarding future research goals.
  • Communicates regular status updates in writing or orally.
  • Provide research support to the lab including stocking and ordering of supplies.
  • Collaborate with team to write, edit, and/or present abstracts and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications as well as scientific presentations (poster or platform).
  • Obtain consent for the biobanking of specimens under an existing Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol.
  • Maintain detailed records of research results, data acquisition, data and statistical analysis of studies conducted.
