About The Position

This position supports the Correlation Research Division’s (CRD) assignment to provide timely, relevant, and reliable information to General Authorities and Church administrators to help them respond to the diverse challenges and opportunities of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a research panel intern you will help build and manage global research panels that are representative of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These research panels will consist of Church members and leaders throughout the world and will support a variety of research studies. The work will include working in the different phases of a research process as part of a support operations team.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor-level degree and currently working towards or recently completed an advance degree in the social/behavioral sciences or closely related field (e.g. sociology, education, instructional design, psychology, anthropology, statistics, economics).
  • Candidates should have a documented history of experience with sampling methodology, research design, survey item development, project management, and data collection methods.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of various sampling methods, including stratified, cluster, and multistage sampling.
  • Experience calculating and applying various types of weights across multiple sampling methodologies.
  • Expertise in using software tools such as Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with panel management platforms and survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics).
  • Understanding of global demographic trends and cultural nuances among the global Church.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly, including strong writing skills.
  • Ability to think critically, problem solve, modify approaches in consideration of practical concerns.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote or hybrid environment.
  • Experience with longitudinal research or tracking research projects.
  • Some proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SAS, R, Python, SPSS, Stata).
  • Deep understanding of a culture outside of the United States.
  • Fluent language abilities in English and another language spoken by Church members (e.g. Spanish and/or Portuguese is desired).

Responsibilities

  • Help implement a global research panel recruitment strategy that ensures demographic, geographic, and cultural representativeness.
  • Help implement in-person surveying methods to account for participants who do not have access to the internet.
  • Use strategies such as non-response bias checking and data weighting to ensure panel representativeness.
  • Develop and maintain research participant databases.
  • Collaborate with co-workers to align panel composition with study objectives.
  • Monitor panel health (e.g., response rates, attrition, engagement) and implement strategies to improve retention.
  • Help with panel member communication, including survey invitations, and reminders (e.g. Email, SMS, WhatsApp, etc.).
  • Help create dashboard reports and presentations on panel performance.
  • Seek innovative ways of solving problems.
