The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine is seeking a Research Medical Scribe to join our collaborative team of Clinical Research Coordinators (CRCs). UVA Medical Center is a Level I Trauma Center, and the UVA Emergency Department (ED) cares for over 75,000 patients per year. The ED spans 45,000 square feet, includes 80 private patient rooms, and features dedicated treatment areas for pediatrics, trauma/resuscitation, and behavioral health. Services include adult and pediatric services, active air and ground transport programs, and is supported by an on-site poison control center. The Department of Emergency Medicine’s Medical Scribe Program began in 2007, providing support to Emergency Medicine physicians and staff as well as other departments within UVA. Medical scribes provide clinical assistance to faculty by performing on-site medical transcription and administrative support. The Research Medical Scribe plays a critical role in both clinical documentation and clinical research operations, working closely with physicians, study investigators, clinical research coordinators, and patients. This position is ideal for individuals interested in pursuing careers in medicine, clinical research, or related healthcare fields and who desire immersive, hands-on experience in a high-acuity academic medical center. Research scribes work directly with patients to obtain informed consent, research data, and/or biological specimens and perform other study procedures as required by protocols.
