The Hollenhorst Lab at Mass General Brigham applies innovative biochemical strategies to study clinically relevant questions regarding proteins that regulate bleeding and clotting. The primary goal is to advance the understanding of hemostasis and thrombosis basic biology, focusing on questions directly relevant to patient care. The lab is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to conduct experiments under the guidance of the principal investigator or a senior lab member. The role involves performing techniques such as western blots, immunoprecipitation, protein purification, and preparing samples for mass spectrometry analysis. The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of independence, maintain detailed notebooks, manage data, and execute other laboratory experiments pertinent to understanding platelets and coagulation factors. Ideal candidates should possess training in wet lab techniques, strong organizational skills, and a drive for continuous learning and skill development. This position is particularly well-suited for individuals aiming for a 1-2 year research experience before pursuing PhD and/or MD programs, with direct mentorship and career advice provided by the principal investigator, including clinical shadowing opportunities for those interested in medical school. The Hollenhorst laboratory is situated in the Harvard Institutes of Medicine building within the Longwood Medical Area, affiliated with Brigham and Women’s Hospital Division of Hematology and Harvard Medical School. It collaborates with institutions like the National Center for Functional Glycomics and the Broad Institute, offering access to state-of-the-art core facilities and a supportive, well-equipped research environment.
