About The Position

We are seeking a motivated graduate student intern to perform conceptual research studies and prototype work on topics related to one or more of the following: 6G cellular infrastructure security, AI/ML related to security, API and network exposure security. The intern will develop solutions, run experiments, analyze results, produce a final report, and will potentially contribute to a conference or journal publication. The intern will be provided with mentorship and guidance throughout the internship. Ericsson is a global company and one of the leading providers of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to service providers. This includes cellular network infrastructure and related services. Ericsson’s Security Research department covers a wide range of topics of relevance for cellular infrastructure, from hardware and trusted computing to applications of AI/ML for security functions. The intention for this internship is to explore novel ideas with applicability for the security of cellular infrastructure; detailed topic to be defined, depending on the expertise of the selected intern.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Strong background in cybersecurity / security of information and communication systems
  • Good analytical and programming skills; ability to work independently and in teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Prior publications record

Nice To Haves

  • Advantageous but not strictly required is an understanding of cellular communication systems

Responsibilities

  • Develop novel concepts and tools for enhancing security (e.g., application of AI/ML to security functions/operations, data generation, analysis of protocols, or other development of security function)
  • Analyze and interpret results; iterate on approaches as needed
  • Document work in a final technical report; concept presentations, assist with publication or standards contributions where suitable
  • Optionally, prepare a proof-of-concept demonstration of internship progress at the end of the internship for presentation to an Ericsson Research audience.
  • Collaborate closely with Ericsson researchers
