Research Intern, Translational Biology
About The Position
Life Edit is seeking an intern researcher knowledgeable in genome editing technologies and skilled in mammalian cell culture to be part of a highly collaborative team focused on advancing Life Edit’s RNA-guided editing systems. As an intern in the Translational Biology department, the selected candidate would work to develop and characterize gene editing systems for targeting diseases. A successful candidate will join our team and make significant contributions to our scientific platforms. Requirements
- Undergraduate student (includes Juniors and Seniors) pursuing a degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related field
- Skills in culturing, transfecting, and analyzing mammalian cells
- Experience with molecular biology techniques including PCR, cloning, DNA/RNA extraction and purification, and NGS library preparation
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Nice To Haves
- Experience using cell-based assays such as flow cytometry, ELISAs, and viability assays a plus
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and optimize Life Edit gene editing systems in mammalian cells to select optimal systems for therapeutic development
- Maintain cell culture of various mammalian cell lines
- Execute mammalian cell transfections and cell based assays to assess Life Edit platform technologies
- Design and execute experiments
- Maintain records of experimental methods, tool development, and protocols
- Work with a collaborative team to troubleshoot experimental procedures
