The Business Development (BD) Research Intern will provide research support to ensure that content in Melwood's pipeline and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system is complete and accurate. The BD Research Intern will also help the BD Team develop and implement a new CRM and Knowledge Management system and will assist the BD Analyst in maintaining the CRM as needed. This position requires detail orientation, strong research abilities, and excellent organizational skills. The position requires a flexible and collaborative team player. Requirements also include skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat). The ideal candidate will have some understanding of BD project operations coordination and AI tools. Familiarity with a CRM tool is a plus. This position can be remote or hybrid, depending on the candidate's preference. This internship offers exceptional learning opportunities, including hands‑on experience supporting Melwood's business development strategy, collaborating with key external partners, and gaining practical insight into how a nonprofit expands its programs, partnerships, and impact across multiple operational areas. The Research Intern will be paid $17.95 per hour . The responsibilities of the Business development research intern include: MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Monitor and research various federal and state and local procurement portals and sources, such as GSA eBuy, SAM.gov, JustWin, eMMA, and eVA, to watch for potential contracting opportunities. Download and file solicitation materials when appropriate. Support business development/sales initiatives by conducting market research and analysis on industry trends, competitive intelligence, and potential new customers and partners. Support the BD Analyst with opportunity pipeline to maintain data quality and ensure accurate tracking of opportunities. Assist in transferring data from current Excel-based system into a new platform. Collaborate with BD Team and Information Security Group on Knowledge Management. Support administrative management and other functions for BD Team as requested. Examples could include setting up meetings, distributing and archiving materials, and supporting win/loss analysis. industry trends, competitive intelligence, and potential new customers and partners. Support the BD Analyst with opportunity pipeline to maintain data quality and ensure accurate tracking of opportunities. Assist in transferring data from current Excel-based system into a new platform.
