The Research Agronomy program is searching for an individual to assume a 12-month, benefits eligible position located at the newly constructed Northeast Rice Research and Extension Center (NERREC). This position is responsible for collecting and organizing agronomic data to assess the value of different production practices for Arkansas farms. This includes, but is not limited to: • alternative rice irrigation methods, including furrow-irrigated rice (FIR) and alternate wetting and drying (AWD) rice • soybean agronomic research • collaboration with extension specialists and other researchers, both internal and external A major focus of this position will be assisting with research trials, both on-station and on-farm. The on farm trials will work with producers to implement new technologies on their farm. Duties will include but are not limited to assisting with equipment installation, data collection, and planting and management of field trials, which includes spraying, irrigating, weeding, and harvesting. The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture (UADA) faculty and staff, outside researchers, and industry cooperators to help build a next-level research program that is highly regarded by our clientele. Our team will pay extra attention to detail and provide high quality and unbiased results to all clientele. The candidate will also be responsible for assisting with post-harvest sample processing, including rice and soybean harvest indices. The candidate will operate in conjunction with the Program Associate and other personnel in the planning and execution of programs. Integrity and personal accountability are key to success in this role.
