Requirements

  • Education: MD, DO, or PhD in a relevant field (e.g., anesthesiology, pain management, perioperative medicine, epidemiology, public health).
  • Clinical Background: At least one year of clinical anesthesiology or pain management training is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong analytical skills, proficiency in statistical software (R, Stata, or SAS preferred), and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Commitment: Full-time engagement with a strong motivation to pursue a career in academic anesthesiology or pain research.

  • Research Experience: Prior research experience is desirable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Research Development: Design, develop, and implement clinical and epidemiologic research projects, including prospective randomized controlled trials, observational cohort studies and retrospective studies leveraging institutional data and large administrative databases
  • Data Analysis & Methodology: Gain expertise in advanced statistical methods, epidemiology, and comparative effectiveness research in collaboration with biostatistics faculty.
  • Manuscript & Grant Writing: Prepare and submit research manuscripts to peer-reviewed journals and develop proposals for research grants.
  • Presentations & Academic Engagement: Present research findings at institutional meetings, national and international conferences, and contribute to journal clubs.
  • Mentorship & Collaboration: Work closely with faculty mentors and engage with interdisciplinary research teams across the Pain Preventions Research Center, anesthesiology, pain management, biostatistics, and perioperative medicine.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Ethics: Assist in Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, adhere to ethical research conduct, and complete required regulatory training modules.
