Led by Guillermo (Gary) Tearney, MD, PhD, the lab’s large multidisciplinary team invents, validates and translates novel devices that use light to conduct microscopy in living patients. http://www.tearneylab.org/ Job Summary Will be responsible for assembling devices for multiple clinical applications. The assembly of all components and sub-assemblies will be performed using drawings, bills of materials, and written instructions. Fabrication work will involve making parts using a 3D printer, lathe/mill, or molding techniques, precise polishing and alignment of optical components, as well as soldering electronic circuits. Will also be responsible for testing and troubleshooting all sub-assemblies and final assemblies. Will also conduct in-process quality checks to ensure that established quality standards are met.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study preferred
  • Mechanical, optical, acoustic or electrical assembly or testing experience 1-2 years preferred
  • Skilled in using hand tools and basic electronic and mechanical equipment.
  • Have the ability to read and follow assembly drawings and directions.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to function with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to learn new techniques.
  • High degree of computer literacy.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble devices for various clinical applications based on drawings and written instructions.
  • Work from and understand schematics, diagrams, written and verbal instructions.
  • Align and assemble small components and mechanical systems.
  • Testing and troubleshooting of sub-assemblies and final assemblies.
  • Conduct in-process quality checks to ensure the established quality standards.
  • Perform experiments to validate the performance of the device.
