About The Position

Fluke is hiring a Research Engineering Intern for summer 2026! The ideal candidate for this role will specialize in electrical engineering, optics, or physics. This intern will conduct a targeted development or research project to develop an optical calibration system or characterize new sensing technology (depending on business priority in summer 2026). Responsibilities: Use foundational engineering (electrical and mechanical) and optics physics principles to construct a testable hypothesis and experiment plan and/or system design supporting a Fluke area of interest. Work with a senior team of engineers and researchers to create an work plan, build and refine a prototype and conduct test measurements. Use sound engineering principles and experiment practices to execute experiments, document and interpret results. Work with the senior team to review approaches and plan as well as results and interpretation. Conduct literature reviews as needed. Design and build experiment hardware and software as needed (could include circuit design, scripting, 3D printing, basic machining). Qualifications: Actively pursuing a degree in engineering, physics, or related field, graduating December 2026 or later. Ability to work in Everett, WA for the summer. Must be able to work independently and seek direction/help as needed. Strong background in E&M / optical physics, mathematics, and engineering. Experience with basic circuit design & electrical measurement methods. Experience running experiments and collecting data using sound scientific methods. Preferred: experience working with CAD software and/or hands-on experience with 3D printers, CNC and machine shop equipment. Good documentation and communication skills.
