About The Position

Teledyne Scientific Company (TSC) is seeking a Temporary Member of Technical Staff – Research Engineer (Entry-Level) position in the Electronics Division, in support of Teledyne’s Chip-Scale Atomic Clock (CSAC) products. This 6 month temporary position has the potential to transition into a permanent role contingent upon future award funding. Teledyne is at the forefront of developing cutting edge technologies in High Frequency Electronics, Optical Systems, Photonics, Position, Navigation, & Timing Solutions. The CSAC group designs and manufactures a miniaturized atomic clock, responsible for keeping extremely precise time (e.g. for use in GPS, high-speed communications, and navigation systems). The CSAC operates on the quantum mechanical principle of coherent population trapping (CPT), using a laser to interrogate an atomic vapor cell, and processing the resulting signal to produce an atomically stabilized frequency source. The position is primarily located at TSC’s Thousand Oaks, CA facility.

Requirements

  • Excellent technical judgment, data analysis, and interpretation skills required
  • Strong, hands-on lab experience and familiarity with electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, optical detectors, power meters is required
  • Familiarity with data reporting software such as MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint is required
  • Must have a BS degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of work experience preferred in a related field
  • Due to the type of work at the facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a U.S. Citizen
