About The Position

Maverick Power is seeking an R&D Product Engineer to join our growing team. This role will partner closely with R&D throughout development, testing, and continuous improvement. From diving into early designs to building and stress-testing prototypes, youll play a hands-on role in bringing new products to life. Product Engineers lead certification efforts, serve as the go-to product expert, train internal teams, and ensure seamless handoffs into productionthen drive iterative enhancements when real-world performance demands it.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years in LV/MV equipment design/prototyping (switchgear, MCCs, or transformers).
  • Hands-on lab experience: short-circuit testing at KEMA, Powertech, or equivalent.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks.
  • Familiar with UL 891/1558/67/1008, IEEE C37.20.2/.3/.4, and certification processes.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods sitting, standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and work at heights for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Design and drafting support as needed.
  • Experienced in generating production-ready documents: BOMs, drawings.
  • Understanding of DFM, DFA, and manufacturing constraints.
  • Ability to work inside ERP (Epicor) and PDM systems to manage BOM accuracy, revision control, and configuration rules.
  • Hands-on prototype build of test specimens and zero series builds.
  • Support preliminary testing and NRTL testing (thermal, dielectric, short circuit, mechanical, environmental).
  • Experience writing test plans, performing root-cause analysis, and documenting corrective actions.
  • Assist with the creation of certification test plans and working with testing laboratories.
  • Handover the design package to production engineering and train production on assembly sequences, torque specs, and hi-pot protocols.
  • Capable of evaluating field issues, quality feedback and supplier changes.
  • Familiarity with engineering change processes and version control.
  • Experience with design to cost initiatives.
  • Lead testing and recertification as needed.
