As the Research & Development Engineer Intern you will have the opportunity to learn about the new product development process throughout the organization. This position reports to the Product Development Manager and is based out of our Anoka, MN office.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in an Engineering Bachelor’s degree program.
  • Self-starter with strong attention to detail.
  • Good problem solving and analytical ability.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, for data recording and creation of status reports.
  • Ability to handle and use firearms for product testing purposes is preferred.
  • Experience with handloading, shooting and hunting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Product Development Engineers through all phases of the development cycle, from initial sample builds and testing to analysis of results and final reporting.
  • Work with ballistics department to develop products within specification, handload samples and perform testing as needed.
  • Assist operations personnel in running defined Engineering Qualification quantities of product, identifying rework of tooling or processes as necessary.
  • Tool up, adjust and operate machines to produce experimental samples.
  • Gage parts to verify they are in tolerance.
  • Develop and document work instructions, standard operating procedures, and quality specifications.
  • Process engineering change orders, to create and revise prints and BOMs.
