About The Position

Works with principal investigators under general direction to perform professional-level medical or scientific research tasks related to a particular or specialized field of endeavor. These scientific activities including writing literature reviews; contributing to scientific articles, reports and presentations; preparing materials for submission to agencies or boards; summarizing project results; and project implementation and management. This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and collegiality.

Responsibilities

  • Assists scientists in the conduct of research, which may include, but are not limited to preparing routine correspondence with various outside parties, scheduling and facilitating project-related meetings, collecting, recording, filing and submitting data according to research protocol.
  • Reviews recommendations by Principal Investigators, students, or other staff of new or modified procedures and protocols prior to implementation to assure appropriateness.
  • Provides periodic small group lectures to research personnel on select topics in research to acquaint them with community-based research and related project topics.
  • Conducts literature searches for Principal Investigator to be used for writing manuscripts and grants or for developing new research studies.
  • Compiles data for statistical analysis and assists in the design and maintenance of databases, spreadsheets, and other computer files used in the administration of research.
  • Writes background and methods sections of grants, reports, and publications for Principal Investigators and other professional personnel.
