About The Position

Performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tests and experimental procedures for the purposes of original research which generally are within a well-defined body of scientific knowledge and typically contribute to larger research efforts of independent investigators. The Hait Lab is hiring a full-time Research Associate within the Departments of Surgical Oncology and Molecular and Cellular Biology. The primary purpose of this position is to perform techniques to generate data supporting funded projects. Performs a variety of routine and specialized laboratory tests and experimental procedures utilizing molecular biology, 3D cell culture, animal models, and patient-derived models for cancer research studies.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and the equivalent of eighteen (18) months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment; or
  • Bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of thirty (30) months of full-time professional research experience in a laboratory, clinical or scientific research environment.
  • Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
  • High-level critical thinking skills and be able to independently drive a project
  • Compliance with funding requirements, including time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Nice To Haves

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in biomedical science and work experience as a laboratory research scientist.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory animals, including xenografts, PDXs, and PDOs; 3D cell culture; histology techniques; and FACS, as well as writing/editing research papers, grants, and presentations.
