About The Position

Pacific Biosciences is seeking a talented Research Associate / Senior Research Associate, Quality Control, to join our Chip Manufacturing Team. This position reports to the Manager, Senior Manufacturing Main Responsibilities: Functional Testing (sequencing) on Sequel I, Sequel II/IIe, and prototype sequencers Prepare sequencing samples using manual pipettes daily Execute, review and refine functional testing manufacturing documentation Analyze and interpret experimental data using various data analysis software Summarize experimental results and review conclusions with manager and team Use technical writing skills to produce reports and present in cross-functional meetings Assist and support engineering projects during development and transfer to production Propose recommendations for continuous process improvements The Ideal Candidate: Hands-on experience with pipettes and sequencing tools is highly desired Hands-on experience with HPLC and GPC is highly desired Receives minimal instructions on routine work and on new assignments Ability to use, write, review, and revise process documentation with accuracy and train others to new processes Ability to effectively communicate, perform multiple tasks simultaneously and is flexible to adjust to frequently changing priorities Skills in project management--ability to manage time and prioritize tasks independently, collaborative mindset, great communication and interpersonal skills Highly motivated individual that can take ownership and drive complex tasks to completion as well as independently diagnose and innovate solutions to manufacturing issues Takes on roles to ensure product quality and that quality processes are used and monitored Ability to read and understand scientific literature Excellent verbal and written communication Organization and time management Ability to develop and deliver compelling and concise presentations Able to work effectively on project teams and independently Candidates must have current authorization to work in the United States without the need for present or future sponsorship. This role is required to be 100% onsite. You may be required from time to time to visit and work at PacBio locations and for such times as the Company considers necessary for the proper performance of your duties. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biological/Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work-experience
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of research experience (preferably in the biotech field either in reagent manufacturing or sequencing)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
  • Proficiency with Statistical Analysis Software, such as JMP
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems, such as Camstar
  • Attention to detail and confident in ownership and execution of projects
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime and weekends as required
  • Maintains a positive attitude with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Candidates must have current authorization to work in the United States without the need for present or future sponsorship
