About The Position

Non-faculty full-time employee whose appointment is contingent upon extramural funding. With investigators, directs and coordinates various aspects of the study/project directed toward planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination. Requires the use of judgment and discretion in performing the assigned duties and responsibilities related to the project. These actions establish precedents and direction for the project. This individual will support ongoing precision medicine implementation efforts for Dr. Allen's research group. This includes informatics-focused work to implement large-scale risk-identification of informatics solutions. They will work across multiple projects and directly with CTSI and IT personnel.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or a comparable graduate degree with eight years of relevant research experience.
  • Two professional letters of recommendation required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of scientific principles
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Public speaking experience
  • Ability to prepare grant proposals with minimal supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory ability preferred.
  • Peer reviewed publications, plus oral or poster presentations at national meetings

Responsibilities

  • Work with the PI, study investigators and senior staff to coordinate the successful and timely completion of tasks that comprise the implementation, data collection and analysis phases of the project, including planning, development, implementation, evaluation, writing, and dissemination of study findings.
  • Work with project PI and senior personnel to ensure that all aspects of the study are conducted in accordance with the study protocol and grant/contract.
  • Ensure that all study activities comply with state and federal regulations and guidelines, as well as all requirements of the Medical School and University.
  • Oversee monitoring of the study budget and/or components of the study budget.
  • Participate in negotiation of contracts and subcontracts
  • Train and instruct study personnel about research procedures and protocols. Also, troubleshoot specialized equipment and apparatus as required for the performance of research activities.
  • Participate in site visits when appropriate (e.g., for multi-site studies).
  • If applicable, represent the project to all related community agencies and organizations, serving as the study’s liaison, spokesperson, and representative.
  • Compile and write scientific progress reports.
  • Monitor quality control procedures and outcomes.
  • If applicable, attend, participate in and take the lead in planning national and local meetings related to the project at each stage.
  • Attend and participate in national and local scientific meetings.
  • Review literature and write summary of findings.
  • Participate in the preparation of scientific papers for publication.
  • Readily analyze and present data for publication.
  • Create, submit and present abstracts and posters for the study/project.
  • Prepare new grant/contract proposals with limited supervision.
  • Participate in brainstorming of potential new proposals suggested by current project findings.
  • For new/developing proposals, translate study design into a budget.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
