About The Position

This is a grant funded position with an end date of 8/31/2026, renewable based upon availability of funding, work performance, and progress toward research goals. This is a hybrid position that may be remote by consideration. Our research team is working on a project focused on supporting the well-being of the harm reduction workforce, Stress First Aid (SFA) for the Harm Reduction Workforce, which we plan to expand into a large, randomized control trial (RCT) serving Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and tribal areas in fall 2025. SFA/HRW intervention comprises of a 2-hour training and learning collaboratives. The Research Assistant will provide research assistance with administrative tasks associated with a research study in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Austin, including tracking participants throughout the study, making sure participants receive payments and other participant contact activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least two years research experience
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Public speaking experience such as in student organizations or from formal academic course work such as public speaking, or communication courses.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate with research participants in a compassionate, sensitive manner. Good social media skills.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, ability to follow-through, and strong problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word and willingness to learn other technologies as necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with an approachable and engaging demeanor
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in psychology or communications. Other compatible degrees would be in the social sciences or business and marketing.
  • Experience with projects involving human subject research and clinical trial work.
  • Experience with REDCap and TANGO gift card systems.

Responsibilities

  • Sends recruitment emails and flyers
  • Sends research information sheets to participants
  • Potential to work with social media
  • Assists in tracking study participation and retention over time
  • Reviews data using software including REDCap, Excel, and other software and databases to track study participants and related activities
  • Tracks participant compensation has been sent upon survey completion
  • Sends reminders to participants to complete research components
  • Assists with managing research-related correspondence from participants
