City of Hope has a Research Associate I opportunity available. Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, or designee, the Research Associate I performs a variety of routine and increasingly complex research experiments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences.
  • 0-2 years of research/laboratory experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of research/laboratory experience.
  • Experience with molecular biology (tumor and stem cell cultures), small animal surgeries, cryosectioning of tissue, immunohistochemistry, microscopy, PCR, statistics, and detailed reporting of experimental results.
  • Understanding of biosafety and small animal handling.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize laboratory equipment and established protocols to perform a variety of research experiments.
  • Record and validate results for accuracy and completeness.
  • May modify protocols.
  • Write standard operating procedures and reports.
  • Maintain records of work performed, including results and methodology; utilizing records may calculate, graph, and compile data.
  • Develop techniques and expertise in one or more areas relevant to laboratory research projects.
  • Ensure that all laboratory activities are carried out in compliance with safety procedures and guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of materials.
