We are seeking a motivated and responsible candidate for a Research Associate I/II position. The candidate must show initiative, strong communication skills, relevant scientific knowledge/experience, and be a team player. Excellent attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and good organizational skills are essential to being successful in this position. How You Will Achieve It: Under the supervision of the R&D Management the Research Associate I/II will assist in supporting research & development activities. This position is an on-site position in our La Jolla, CA R&D lab.

Requirements

  • For Research Associate I, a 4-year degree in biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering, or a relevant field is required
  • For Research Associate II, a MS in biology, chemistry, biomedical engineering or 2+ years of relevant work experience required
  • Laboratory experience in a related environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of product development processes and FDA requirements preferred
  • Knowledge of a variety of standard laboratory procedures and techniques; of laboratory equipment and terminology; and of laboratory hazards and safety practices.
  • Experience with Cell Culture, PCR, ELISA assays, and other relevant laboratory procedures.
  • Experience in operating electrical and nonelectrical laboratory equipment and potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, biohazards etc.)
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.)
  • Ability to work in an organized and autonomous fashion.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a wide range of assigned experiments with efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Design and execute experiments to investigate hypotheses, makes observations, and interprets findings with minimal supervision (e.g., troubleshoots routine experiments, and develops some non-routine procedures).
  • Exercises technical judgment in execution of specialized procedures and interpretation of complex results.
  • Makes observations, documents experimental data, and records all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
  • Performs calculations, statistics, and complex analysis on experimental results.
  • Initiates routine problem investigation and recommends solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports and present data/findings within R&D and cross functional teams.
  • Maintains knowledge of published literature in assigned areas and provides summaries.
  • Attends and actively participates in group and project meetings.
  • Orders laboratory materials and reagents.
  • Assists with routine lab equipment maintenance.
  • Receives, stores, aliquots and keeps inventory of important laboratory reagents.
  • Organize and store all chemicals substances, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety instructions.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work area in accordance with standard laboratory practice and procedures.
  • Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
