About The Position

The laboratory of Christina Theodoris, MD, PhD, is seeking a talented and motivated Research Associate (I, II, III, or Senior) with a background in experimental genomics to join the research program in the Gladstone Institute of Cardiovascular Disease and the Gladstone Institute of Data Science and Biotechnology. The Theodoris Lab focuses on leveraging cutting-edge experimental genomics and machine learning to map the gene networks driving cardiovascular disease and to develop network-correcting therapies. This is a unique opportunity to work at the interface of experimental and computational biology in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.

Requirements

  • BS/BA and/or MS/MA in a related field (e.g., molecular biology, genomics, bioengineering, or a similar discipline).
  • 2+ years of related laboratory experience.
  • Proficiency in tissue culture, especially with induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques such as RNA/DNA purification, PCR, and cloning.
  • Experience in experimental genomics, including sequencing library preparation (e.g., single-cell sequencing, ChIP-seq).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in cardiovascular biology, stem cell differentiation, or gene regulation studies.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools or experience collaborating with computational researchers.
  • A demonstrated track record of scientific initiative, including contributions to publications or research presentations.
  • Interest in long-term professional growth within the lab, including potential leadership opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of molecular biology and genomics experiments, including RNA/DNA purification, PCR, cloning, and sequencing library preparation.
  • Conduct cell culture experiments, particularly with induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
  • Contribute to single-cell and/or ChIP-seq experiments and analyses.
  • Manage laboratory operations, including organization, ordering supplies, and maintaining compliance with safety protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with computational biologists to integrate experimental and analytical approaches.
  • Actively participate in lab meetings, present findings, and contribute to research discussions.
  • Assist in the training and mentorship of junior lab members.

Benefits

  • People–work with talented, committed, and supportive teammates within an organization that values each member of its community.
  • A meaningful place to grow and learn–whether it’s your professional skills or scientific knowledge, we have the resources and environment to advance either so you can better support Gladstone’s mission to drive a new era of discovery in disease-oriented science and to mentor tomorrow’s leaders in an inspiring and excellent environment.
