The Histopathology Facility seeks a Postdoc/Research associate to join our efforts in developing new approaches to evaluate cell and tissue changes using modern tools of image analysis and artificial intelligence. The individual will engage in experiments involving varies animal models of human cancer and allied diseases including mesothelioma, melanoma, pancreatic neoplasias, breast cancer, bladder cancer etc. This is a unique opportunity for someone with expertise in histology, experimental pathology, or molecular pathology to learn complementary skills and become proficient in newer approaches of quantitative cell and tissue analysis, AI assisted pathology, as well as spatial proteomics. The candidate must have skills in histology, histological techniques, immunohistochemistry or immunology, and ideally in pathobiology of animal models of human disease. Experience using slide scanners, and analytical software applied to quantification of cell and tissue markers is a plus. The Research Associate is a senior postdoctoral associate who is > 5 years beyond their start date. As with the postdoc, the research associate is a training post wherein the Associate conducts independent original research under the mentorship of FCCC/ICR faculty with the goal of becoming an independent successful scientist. The Associate gains independence by: performing experiments, analyzing resultant data, publishing original findings, applying for funding, communicating results in presentations at the Center and at conferences, mentoring students, and through participation in leadership and administrative activities offered through Academic Affairs.
