Works under general direction to perform professional level medical or scientific research assignments related to particular or specialized field of endeavor. The Tu Lab is looking for a skilled research associate to assist senior researchers in the lab with their projects and to possibly lead their own independent research project in the investigation of metabolic signaling as well as mechanisms relevant to mitochondrial biogenesis and dysfunction. Work with mammalian cell lines and yeast to conduct nutritional or drug perturbations and investigate the resulting consequences using a variety of molecular biology, biochemical, or microscopy-based assays. Provides basic support for research projects by performing routine laboratory procedures, operating equipment, recording data, and collaborating with a supervisor to adjust methods as needed. May assist in various scientific fields and perform other assigned duties.
