About The Position

The LSUHSC Cancer Center is seeking a meticulous and organized Research Associate 3 to join our BioBank team. The Research Associate 3 (RA3) position will manage the NCORP Moonshot Biorepository Core used by multiple investigators at LSUHSC , partner institutions, and other universities and outside affiliates. The RA3 will facilitate the acquisition, processing and archival of tissues from Moonshot and other related NCI study participants . The incumbent will provide various services, including patient identification, obtaining informed consent, specimen collection, tissue processing, sample storage and maintenance, database creation, and management of the Moonshot Biorepository data. They will also be responsible for all database, equipment, and technological procurement suggestions and upgrades. The RA3 may also train and supervise junior level staff members, visiting Fellows, and students when applicable on proper equipment handling, technique, and lab safety. This role is essential for supporting research by maintaining the integrity and quality of stored samples at various temperatures. Experience in a biobank, clinical laboratory or anatomic pathology environment is preferred. The successful candidate will possess excellent customer service skills and be expected to interact and develop relationships with potential clinical trial participants as well as professionals in clinics, operating rooms, and other research departments.
