Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Electrical and Computer Engineering is seeking a Research Assistant that will contribute to the development and evaluation of computer vision algorithms, with a focus on assessing performance in edge deployment settings. Their role will involve supporting model development, running experiments, and analyzing results to evaluate accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered
  • Successful background check

Responsibilities

  • Administer and coordinate the technical activities of an educational activity in relation to the operation of a laboratory.
  • Acts as an advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
  • Develops and administers budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.
  • Frequently coordinates the program activities with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods, and users.
  • Serve as an advisor to faculty to meet schedules and or resolve technical problems.
  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures and protocols are maintained and applied.
  • assist with the deployment and testing of these models in real-world or simulated environments, helping ensure reliable performance under practical constraints such as latency and resource limitations.
  • Additionally, they will help curate and organize datasets, run evaluations, and document findings.
  • Provide hands-on experience with applied computer vision systems, including working with image and video data, and supporting the training and optimization of deep learning models in a research-driven setting.
  • Other duties as assigned
