About The Position

Under the limited supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), this individual will conduct research on the genetics and genomics of Deer mice (Peromyscus). Requirements

  • The position requires a PhD degree in biological sciences or a closely related field, plus a minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral research experience in genetics and genomics of laboratory mice by the start date of employment.
  • Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in genetics and genomics of Mus and Peromyscus, basic molecular biology techniques, bioinformatics, and gene sequence and lysis, as well as basic skills in computing, coding, and database management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform genomic whole genome sequencing and analyze the data to identify relevant variations.
  • Develop Peromyscus-specific antibodies for immune system-related antigens. Evaluate antibodies and characterize them.
  • Assist in the operation of the Peromyscus Genetic Stock Center and function as the Director's deputy.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor students and research personnel. Serve as supervisor of record for student employees.
  • Develop and submit grant applications to private and federal funding agencies.
