The Cigliola Laboratory and the Department of Pharmacology invite applications for a Research Assistant position. The Cigliola Lab is dedicated to identifying novel strategies to reverse paralysis after spinal cord injury. We use state-of-the-art genetics, transcriptomics, and in vivo cellular, molecular, and behavioral approaches in zebrafish and mouse models to uncover the innate mechanisms of spinal cord regeneration. This position is in conjunction with the Department of Pharmacology, and the assistant will have shared responsibilities between the laboratory and the department. Key responsibilities include maintenance of the zebrafish colony and support of routine laboratory and departmental operations (placing orders, maintaining inventory, and preparing animal protocols) Specialized training will be provided. The Department of Pharmacology is one of the most distinguished Pharmacology departments in the country. Research interests include seven major areas: signal transduction mechanisms, neuronal communication and synaptic signaling, bioactive lipids, molecular basis of neuropsychiatric disorders, structural biology, drug discovery, and cancer biology.
