JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Perform Experiments and Conduct Research Activities Perform and coordinate complex translational and clinical research activities following established protocols and regulatory requirements. Understand and apply scientific principles related to preclinical, translational, and clinical research, including surgical and device‑based studies. Independently conduct and support experiments in small and large animal models, as well as clinical research activities such as retrospective chart reviews, registry‑based analyses, and large-scale database studies. Maintain accurate, detailed, and compliant research records. Analyze data and prepare datasets, statistical summaries, and graphical analyses for abstracts, manuscripts, and reports. Design and execute daily research activities in coordination with faculty investigators and senior research staff. Apply standard protocols to complex research questions and troubleshoot procedures as needed. Contribute substantively to laboratory meetings, research presentations, abstracts, and peer‑reviewed publications. Orally present research findings in group and departmental settings. Assist with and support surgical procedures, including scrub support, operating room setup and turnover, perioperative coordination, and post‑procedure data collection aligned with study endpoints. Research and Improve Current Methods Utilize internal and external scientific resources to evaluate, implement, and refine research methodologies. Support the translation of preclinical findings into clinical research applications. Modify existing protocols and workflows to improve efficiency, data quality, and regulatory compliance. Evaluate and assist in the adoption of innovative techniques, tools, and data systems relevant to translational and clinical research. Serve as a Resource Demonstrate advanced competence in research operations, regulatory processes, and clinical workflows. Serve as a technical and procedural resource for faculty, fellows, trainees, and research staff. Assist in training postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and junior research personnel in laboratory, surgical, and clinical research techniques. Capable of directing undergraduate trainees in established procedures. Effectively communicate research expectations, timelines, and results to multidisciplinary stakeholders. Stay current on institutional policies, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), HIPAA requirements, and research compliance standards. Lab and Research Administration Prepare, submit, and maintain regulatory documentation, including IRB and IACUC protocols, amendments, and continuing reviews. Ensure compliance with institutional policies, GCP, HIPAA, and applicable regulatory standards. Manage research databases such as REDCap, including data entry, quality control, and audit readiness. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data integrity, protocols, and research equipment. Maintain laboratory supplies, equipment, and inventory. Conduct routine quality checks to ensure protocol and assay accuracy. Provide appropriate safety monitoring and documentation as assigned (biosafety, radiation safety, etc.). Support daily laboratory operations, including organization, cleanliness, and operational readiness. Customer Service and Collaboration Maintain strong working relationships with investigators, clinical partners, collaborators, and external sponsors. Respond to research requests in a timely, professional, and effective manner. Understand stakeholder needs and support timely delivery of research milestones. Communicate relevant project updates, data issues, and compliance considerations to faculty and research leadership.
