About The Position

UTHealth Houston's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Scinces' Nurturing Resilience initiative is hiring a Research Assistant I to support the implementation of a new research project evaluating the acceptability, appropriateness, and feasibility of evidence-based interventions for trauma within pediatric primary care settings. This project will be conducted across three UTHSC pediatric primary care clinics and involves qualitative interviews, stakeholder engagement, and a stepped-care intervention model. The Research Assistant I will play a critical role in coordinating participant recruitment, scheduling and conducting semi-structured interviews, managing consent and data collection processes, maintaining study documentation, and ensuring compliance with institutional and regulatory protocols. The RA will also assist with data entry and management in REDCap, transcription and coding of qualitative interviews, and coordination of stakeholder meetings and follow-up assessments. Other duties may include data collection-related activities, including administering surveys and structured assessments, entering data into databases, and assisting with data quality control and tracking participant progress through study steps. The Research Assistant will also update research records, participant tracking logs, and databases regularly to ensure data accuracy and completeness. The role may also assist in preparing meeting materials, study packets, and documentation for the lab. What we do here changes the world. Position Summary: Under close direction of senior research staff, conducts activities to support research projects.

Requirements

• General knowledge of research fields.
• Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in lieu of education.
• No years of experience.
• Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision, conducts research activities according to research protocol for a pediatric primary care-based trauma intervention study.Research activities may include some or all of the following: participant recruitment and screening,scheduling and coordinating semi-structured qualitative interviews with caregivers, providers, and clinic staff, assisting with implementation mapping sessions; and supporting delivery of intervention activities across clinic sites.
• Maintains a safe and efficient work environment, by ensuring regulatory compliance, including assisting with IRB creation, updates, and continuing reviews, and maintaining essential regulatory documentation.
• Collects, evaluates, and interprets research data to provide needed information to principal investigators and other researchers. Updates notebooks, records, and databases as needed.
• Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for research department.
• Orders laboratory and/or other supplies as directed by senior research staff.
• As needed, may coordinate the work of laboratory technicians and assistants to ensure efficient, timely and high quality results.
• Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulations, and codes.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
