We are looking for a temporary, part time research assistant in the Biology department. Our lab conducts research on mutation biology using the model system, Daphnia. Our focus is to use experimental evolution experiments and whole genome sequencing to better understand the evolution of mutation rates. This role will report to Sarah Schaack. This is a temporary, part-time role scheduled to work about 20 hours per week for about 6 months. The starting pay for this position is $20.60 -$23.00/hour. Pay offers are contingent upon experience and are determined through an internal pay assessment. This is an overtime eligible position on the research pay grade. Who You Are You have prior experience with raising invertebrates in a lab setting You have strong organizational skills, excellent communication, reliability, and a willingness to learn new skills What You'll Do Assist with multi-week or month-long experiments being conducted as part of an NSF-funded proposal Media preparation and animal rearing (Daphnia) Operate specialized equipment (microscopes, autoclaves, etc) Perform specialized molecular biology techniques Prepare tissue samples and conduct library preparation for whole genome sequencing
