About The Position

Prof. Philippe Seguin (Department of Plant Science) is looking for a full-time research assistant to assist him on research projects on crop production (forage crops, quinoa, soybean, and corn). Experiments are located mostly at the Emile A Lods Agronomy Research Center in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue. This a position that requires work outside in the field and may involve travelling occasionally to other research sites.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree required.
  • Driver’s license.
  • Field experience with crops.
  • Knowledge of basic computer softwares (including excel, Word, Outlook, etc…)
  • Bilingual (English and French).
  • Before applying, please note that to work at McGill University, you must be both authorized to work in Canada and willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.
  • McGill University is an English-language university where most teaching and research activities are conducted in the English language, thereby requiring English communication both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform crop management experiments.
  • Establish and grow plants in the field.
  • Monitor plant growth, sample, harvest, and harvest samples.
  • Collect data from experimental plots.
  • Perform wet chemistry analyses (e.g., Nitrogen, carbon, fiber determinations).
  • Compile and analyze data.
  • Write research reports.
  • Any other activities assigned by the Research Supervisor.
  • Supervise summer undergraduate students who will help in the projects.
