The Research and Engagement Librarian collaborates with library colleagues and departmental faculty to design, deliver, and promote an information literacy curriculum grounded in outcomes-based assessment and skill development. As part of a team of research and engagement librarians, this position supports a comprehensive instruction program that includes interactive, hands-on classroom lessons, as well as the development of online research guides, tutorials, and structured library research modules for delivery through the LMS. The librarian also provides research support and instruction to both on-campus and online students and faculty, contributing to the librarys mission of fostering academic success through accessible, high-quality information services.

Requirements

  • Masters degree from an ALA-accredited library school required.
  • Proven experience of at least 2 years delivering instruction in a library or academic setting, with a strong record of effective teaching.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively in team-based environments and independently with diverse campus constituencies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in identifying, accessing, and teaching the use of a wide range of information resources.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities paired with exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and implement new technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of issues, trends and technologies in information literacy

  • Thorough knowledge of academic software systems such as Navigate, Springshare, and Canvas.

Responsibilities

  • Provide research and learning support to students and faculty across academic departments through individual classroom instruction, research consultations, workshops, and other educational programming.
  • Serve as a liaison librarian to one or more colleges, departments, or programsdelivering information literacy instruction, maintaining subject-specific collections, and staying current with relevant print and electronic resources. Responsibilities include evaluating, selecting, and weeding materials as part of collection development.
  • Collaborate with fellow librarians to design and enhance the library instruction curriculum, including lesson planning, development of online learning materials, and the exploration of innovative approaches to information literacy instruction.
  • Participate in departmental assessment, evaluation, and reporting activities to support continuous improvement of library services and instruction.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively to develop a range of instructional and informational resources, such as library guides and tutorials.
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of digital learning objects to maintain consistent branding, ensure accessibility compliance, and promote uniform use of library terminology and concepts.
  • Collaborate with the liaison librarians to embed information literacy modules into the course management system and other platforms.
  • Deliver effective research assistance in person, via chat, email, and phone, supporting users at all levels.
  • Conduct individualized research consultations tailored to the specific needs of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Actively promotes library services and builds partnerships with faculty to grow and enhance the librarys instructional offerings.
  • Oversee and manages special projects as assigned.
