About The Position

Ruth Lilly Law Library, Indiana University Robert H. Mckinney School of Law invites applications for a Research and Instructional Services Librarian who works with library faculty and staff to advance the library’s educational programming, including the library’s legal research instruction courses, responsible lawyering course, and programs for faculty and students; provides reference assistance to library patrons (faculty, students, and members of the public); participates in evening and weekend reference coverage; assists in developing and promoting instructional and user support materials including multimedia and web-based materials; participates in the faculty liaison program; assists with other information services activities; works on team-based projects, including development of a new legal technology training program; and participates in collection development. The Research and Instructional Services Librarian reports to the Associate Director. Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA -accredited law school.
  • Evidence of ability to meet Indiana University (Indianapolis campus) promotion and tenure requirements including scholarship and participation in professional activities.

Nice To Haves

  • M.L.S. or M.L.I.S. or commensurate experience.
  • Research and reference experience and teaching experience in an academic law library.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in traditional and electronic legal research methods and excellent knowledge of legal and interdisciplinary research resources including print and electronic materials.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the use of technologies including instructional technology and internet resources.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong service orientation and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience or potential for effective legal research instruction.
  • Ability to work effectively and creatively in a collaborative environment.
  • Exhibits professionalism by being reliable, timely, flexible, and collegial.

Responsibilities
