About The Position

The Research and Development (R&D) Supervisor is a working member and Supervisor of the Product Support Team within the R&D group providing technical product support to Manufacturing, Purchasing, Sales, Technical Service and Marketing. Can also include aspects of Product Enhancements to existing products, and processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in one of the following areas: - Formulation of new adhesives, caulks, sealants, coatings, foams, or similar. - Quality Control involving troubleshooting manufacturing and/or customer problems with adhesives, caulks, sealants, coatings, foams, or similar. - Field Service involving application and/or performance of adhesives, caulks, sealants, coatings, foams, or similar.
  • Minimum 2 years supervising at least one technician in R&D or QC capacity.
  • Bachelor degree in science, engineering or related field or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and set priority for the activities of up to 3 chemists and/or technicians in the Product Support capacity in order to accomplish main Objectives set by the Director of R&D and Managers.
  • Provide technical product support and process support as needed by working directly with Managers of Production, Purchasing, QC, Technical Service, and the Product Managers.
  • Technical Responsibility for Batch Card (formula and process) Maintenance.
  • Shared Responsibility with Mfg. QC Manager for Quality Control Standards Maintenance.
  • Alternate Raw Material and Packaging Testing and Approval.
  • Assist Sales and Technical Service with Field Issues or special customer testing requirements.
  • Support Process Improvement and Troubleshooting Efforts.
  • Provide testing and technical documentation for Product Data sheets and Application sheets.
  • Quality Assurance Testing Program with input from the Product Manager and the R&D Manager.
  • Record Keeping.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
