This project will extend and refine ongoing work on SYCL tracing capabilities. SYCL is a critical programming model used on Aurora, including in ModSim and PyTorch workflows, but currently lacks robust tracing support, which makes performance analysis and optimization difficult. A proof-of-concept tracing approach has been developed and submitted as a paper to IWOCL. The proposed student work will continue this effort by improving functionality, robustness, and usability of the tracing framework, with the goal of enabling more effective performance characterization and analysis of SYCL applications on Aurora. Education and Experience Requirements The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States. Applicants must be: ‒ Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution. ‒ Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or ‒ Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution. Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins. Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
