About The Position

The Department of Medical Physics is seeking a Research Administrative Specialist to join our friendly, supportive and exceptional team and provide research administrative support. This position serves as the primary contact for post-award support to faculty, researchers and trainee investigators. This position will support a funding portfolio for the Department of Medical Physics. Responsibilities include working with principal investigators and research staff to budget, monitor expenditures, create projections and reconcile financial data for accounts. This will include processing and/or approving accounting transactions. This position is full or part-time, 80%-100% This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. The work schedule is flexible and will be determined at the time of hire. Business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm Candidates who demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities will be given first consideration: Effective oral and written communication skills, independent problem solving and analytical skills; excellent attention to detail; effective organizational skills as well as a service-oriented approach

Requirements

  • Experience in accounting or finance, specifically creating and managing budgets.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience offering guidance on spending, expense tracking and summarizing budget projections.
  • Experience interpreting and analyzing financial data.
  • Experience with research administration in an academic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a liaison and expert resource for researchers regarding the interpretation of policy and procedure related to overall sponsored project management
  • Serves as department effort coordinator
  • Assures compliance with grant, contract or agreement requirements and determine whether objectives are being met
  • Works collaboratively with researchers to prepare non-technical materials for proposals, drafting contracts or agreements for review, and/or advising award setup
  • Maintains and monitors grants and contract budgets
  • Leads researchers in the preparation and/or maintenance documentation, financial management, and/or reporting requirements related to sponsored grants, contracts, or agreements
  • May identify funding opportunities and disseminate to principal investigators
