CardWorks Servicing, LLC provides end-to end operational servicing functions for credit cards, secured cards, and installment loans.  We service consumer and small business loans across the credit spectrum and offers backup servicing and due diligence services to capital providers and trustees. Merrick Bank is an FDIC-insured Utah Industrial Loan Bank . Merrick operates three main business lines : credit cards, recreational lending, and merchant services. Carson Smithfield, LLC provides a variety of post-charge-off debt recovery services, including digital self-service, IVR, live agent, and external agency management. The Specialist I coordinates and has responsibility for the activity of repossession, recovery, and liquidation of collateral for the Recreation Lending portfolio’s secured accounts. This person is also accountable to ensure that the Recreation Lending collection policies and procedures are followed in accordance with state and federal laws and practices.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • One (1) year of collections or repossession work experience is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of federal and state collection, banking, lending and bankruptcy laws and regulations for the non-prime credit segment.
  • Experience and demonstrated skill with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), e-mail, and database software.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure. Skilled at handling a variety of assignments simultaneously. Flexibility with a willingness to work at a rapid pace within strict time frames.
  • Communicates effectively both orally and in writing, including negotiation skills; presents ideas in a clear, concise, understandable, and organized manner.
  • Effective planning, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills. High level of accountability for work with limited supervision. High degree of accuracy and trust are required.
  • Completes all Essential Functions with a professional demeanor.

  • Working knowledge of repossession and remarketing operations is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns collateral Out for Repossession
  • Assists in skip level actions; i.e., internet, social media, TLO, etc., to locate and repossess collateral.
  • Ensures compliance with all federal and state collection laws and applicable lending regulations as they apply to the Bank and Recreation Lending Team.
  • Take steps to prepare and process repossession titles, to send to auction vendors for placing collateral at auction.
  • Correspond with customers via phone, email and so forth, attempting collection efforts pre charge off and/or repossession.
  • Processes customer correspondence in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations
  • Maintains strong relationships with all repossession, transportation and auction vendors
  • Assists in maintaining proper tracking of all collateral, including bankruptcy accounts
  • Scans, renames and files all customer account related documentation into customer folders or accounts
  • Assists in pulling NADA values as needed
  • Updates customer accounts and other details within the system of record
  • Assists in preparing and sending Repossession & Remarketing related letters/mail
  • Fulfills other tasks and functions assigned by leadership

  • Responsible for understanding and complying with all laws and regulations to which the Bank is subject.
  • Responsible for communicating problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, noncompliance with laws and regulations, policy violations, or illegal acts.
