About The Position

Eaton’s IS AER FED division is currently seeking a Repair Station Technician - 2nd Shift to join our team in Rumford, RI! The core hours are 3 pm - 11 pm. The hourly rate for this position is $30.79 per hour + $0.60 per hour shift premium. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. The Rumford, RI facility is a unionized location. There is a 60 day probationary period, after which you will be considered a union member and begin paying union dues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience reading blueprints, using measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers, and shop mathematics or related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate drill presses, hand operated hydraulic presses, vapor degreaser, sandblasting machine, hand and pedestal grinders, Lepel induction unit, hand screw press and riveting machine using special tools and fixtures designated for a variety of operations.
  • Set up and use test fixtures to test assemblies for leakage using hoist to lift test fixtures.
  • Work from prints, method sheets, operation sheets, sketches and/or verbal instructions to produce parts in accordance with acceptable quality and quantity levels.
  • Perform bench and machine operations to assemble and test a variety of seal assemblies working with close tolerances. Operations include removing carbons, guide pins and plates from housings, inserting carbons and assemble, and rivet plates and pins to assemblies. Clean, polish, deburr, mark and sandblast all parts as required.
  • Set up and operate ovens to bake, thermal cycle, or heat treat a variety of parts. Perform machine and hand lapping, burring and polishing with files or on lathes, and bond and insert carbons in small composites. Mark and package seals per requirements.
  • Set up and use CMM, micrometers, verniers, indicators, surface plates, gages, comparators and other measuring devices. Responsible for checking own work after set up and first piece is checked by Supervisor or Group Leader.
  • Report faulty operations, defective material and unusual conditions to Supervisor. Maintain work area, equipment and tools in clean and orderly condition. Observe prescribed safety precautions, company rules and regulations.
  • Complete the induction process to receive in customer returns for the Repair Station. Responsible for starting the repair process on gearbox and main shaft seals by issuing standard work teardown and assembly work sheets. Release housings using the proper version number for the repairs that are necessary to overhaul seals to serviceable condition.
  • Includes the duties of the Face Seals Utility Operator as required.
