About The Position

The Production Supervisor leads the Reliability Service Center’s Power Generation team, which is comprised of more than 35 employees -- including craft, first line supervisors, and support staff - who operate in a demand service environment to deliver world class maintenance and reliability services to internal and external customers. For this leader of leaders role, we are seeking someone who promotes an inclusive, positive and caring culture while also delivering operational excellence. The leader will need to be strategic, empathetic, self-motivated, organized, analytical and comfortable using data to make decisions, and able to work well both independently and with others. Beyond leading a large team, the Production Supervisor will play a key role in driving strategies that strengthen our operations, including planning and scheduling, managing O&M budgets, resolving problems, and developing and retaining employees.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading IBEW contract covered employees

Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for work performed by covered teams at the Georgia Power Repair Shop, including associated specialists.
  • Refurbishment, repair, and maintenance of Power Generation equipment (motors, generators, and more) including nuclear safety related equipment for Southern Nuclear plants.
  • Fabrication and welding of steel, aluminum, etc.
  • Periodic field support of Transmission, Distribution and Generation partners
  • On-site support related to the above activities for internal and external customers.
  • Shop equipment maintenance and project management.
  • Create a proactive culture of compliance where employees follow procedures and problems are promptly identified and addressed to ensure we comply with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive work planning and scheduling to meet customer commitments in conjunction with supervisors and specialists, while balancing business needs including training, team meetings, vacation, overtime, etc.
  • Influence business decisions through investigation, process validation, best practice research, and timely communication.
  • Implement best practices to improve quality and gain efficiencies.
  • Develop workforce plan for sustainability.
  • Manage O & M budget targets
  • Oversee process for front line employee selection, development, and retention.
  • Lead communication forums within employee group to ensure information exchange and participation in decision making processes.
  • Promote a diverse, trusting, equitable and inclusive environment and develops employees who feel included, informed, engaged, and empowered.
  • Engage with internal and external customers to ensure current needs are meet and to develop new opportunities to utilize our services.
  • Provide effective leadership, development, coaching, and mentoring to front line supervision and specialists.
  • Provide clear performance expectations with frequent candid feedback.
  • Continually develop the leadership skills of the first line supervisors.
  • Utilize the selection process to build a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Ensure department leaders drive results, set clear expectations, prioritize work, and develop corrective action as needed.
