About The Position

The Repair and Maintenance Manager will direct all maintenance activities to ensure that maximum operational potential is realized for the entire facility operations. This includes managing and participating in the upkeep of all manufacturing assets, managing maintenance budget and resources, and assisting in the design and installation of new systems. Other responsibilities include all functions in the areas of departmental budgets, computerized maintenance management systems, preventive/predictive and corrective maintenance programs.

• Ability to read, interpret, apply, and communicate technical information, including drawings and specifications
• Knowledge of equipment and production processes
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Familiarity with PLC's(Programable Logic Controller) and automated systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or manufacturing and/or maintenance management strongly preferred.
• Must have recent experience in a Manufacturing facility, preferable food manufacturing with at least 5 years preferred experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
• Expert working knowledge of all machine components and integration.
• Experience working with automated equipment to include PC, PLC and Robotic equipment
• Proven mechanical aptitude for analytical problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Continuously improve manufacturing processes in terms of quality and performance measurements and identifying and eliminating bottleneck areas
• Performs maintenance tasks to ensure maximum machinery and equipment uptime
• Ability to trouble shoot and fix breakdowns
• Performs building maintenance: Drywall/ plaster repair and painting furniture and equipment assembly and relocation changing lights and/ or fixtures plumbing repairs, replacements, installation Carpentry repairs and installation (doors, shelves, countertops) Minor repair of electrical devices Facility safety inspections Concrete and asphalt paving inspections and repairs Grounds and security maintenance (fencing, gate arms and gates)
• Disassembles broken or defective equipment to facilitate repair; reassembles equipment when repairs are complete
• Cleans or lubricates vehicles, machinery, equipment, components, and parts to prevent defects, and to ensure proper functionality
• Transfers tools, parts, equipment, and supplies to and from workstations and other areas
• Adjusts, connects, or disconnects wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts, using hand tools or power tools
• Own and manage Maintenance Metrics based on data documented in Fix CMMS to ensure all facility equipment runs in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner
• Seek to ensure reliability of facility and equipment operation while optimizing maintenance and operation costs and satisfying all safety, environmental regulations
• Own and manage Maintenance budget to include capital, budgeted and unplanned spend to drive effective prioritization of maintenance activities
• Design, document, troubleshoot, and lead the launch of new products and processes from an engineering perspective
• Work collaboratively with Engineering and Construction team members on facility based Continuous Improvement, Reliability Centered Maintenance and Capital projects
• Identify and solve safety concerns encountered during design and study of the process
• Read and interpret specifications, blueprints and job orders and make updates to diagrams to include P&ID and CAD drawings
• Devise improvement processes to reduce scrap and defects while improving throughput and document SOPs and the implementation of Best Practices into the facility.
• Coordinate the installation of new equipment to maximize production efficiency and maintainability
• Serve as the primary liaison with State, County, and City regulatory agencies, supporting inspections, audits, and timely submission of required compliance reports and documentation.
• Work with production to make modifications to equipment and work areas for maximum efficiency of operation
• Maintain a knowledge base in the capacity of existing utilities and the current level of utilization
• Stay abreast of the latest safety, environmental, and other regulations which affect the facility to ensure compliance
• Develop and support the capital project planning and manage installation projects
• Oversee the maintenance of the equipment and the facility to ensure the company receives maximum utilization of its assets
• Ensure the systems are in place & followed to maintain the reliability of the equipment and processes
• Reviews, evaluates, counsels, and disciplines employees as necessary, in conjunction with the general manager and human resources, to ensure department meets or exceeds productivity requirements
• Evaluates and recommends improvements to product processing
• Responsible to adhere to food quality and food safety as per quality standards and/or Safe Quality Food requirements
• Ensure compliance to all OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulation and environmental regulatory and corporate standards
• Investigate and identify root causes of any non-compliance.
• Accountable for a safe working environment through the development of strategies focused on accident reduction as well as energy and waste minimization
• Support, develop and optimize the Preventive Maintenance (PM) strategy for all assets in the facility to ensure their efficient upkeep and repair
• Work cooperatively with departmental managers
• Oversee and manage staffing of maintenance department
• Develop maintenance team members professionally (i.e., facilities, production, wastewater, tooling, purchasing, etc.)
• Establish and maintain vendor and contractor relationships
• Respond to emergency situations to ensure employee and facility safety
• Create and Manage purchase orders while partnering with the accounting team to support budget tracking, cost control, and accurate financial reporting related to maintenance operations, OpEx and CapEx projects.
