The primary function of this position is to perform advanced mechanical repairs and assembly on compact construction, aerial, and allied equipment by troubleshooting and using various diagnostic equipment. Essential duties include checking equipment and supplies, complying with PPE requirements, preparing for duties, and using manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, and parts diagrams for independent troubleshooting and repair. The technician will use lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids to move parts, and hand & power tools for removing, installing, replacing, re-building, repairing, and testing parts/equipment. The role also involves using miscellaneous resources and computers for parts reference, information, and data entry, as well as disassembling/reassembling parts, cleaning parts with rags, cleaners, and power washers, and using test equipment for diagnostic checks. The technician must be able to climb onto, under, and into vehicles for access, use overhead hoists, lift devices, and forklifts to move heavy items, perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repair engines, power train, hydraulic, and electrical components. Additionally, the role includes using power washers & spray paint equipment to clean & paint vehicles, and using instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers.
